About NailSage

Hi, I’m Jennie. I run NailSage.

This site exists because finding nail inspiration online is genuinely
annoying. You search “short almond nails”, open forty tabs, see the same
six pictures on every one of them, and still walk into your appointment
with nothing useful to show your nail tech. I got tired of it. So I built
the thing I wanted: proper galleries, sorted the way people actually
search, with enough designs in each one that you leave with a screenshot
instead of a headache.

One nail idea a day, every day. Sorted by shape, colour, season and
occasion.

How I got into this

I’ve been doing my own nails at home for years, badly at first and then
less badly. I have opinions about top coats. I have never once managed to
freehand a french tip that I’d let anyone photograph, which is why I know
exactly which designs are realistic to ask for and which ones need a
professional and two hours.

I’m not a licensed nail technician and I won’t pretend to be. What I am
is someone who has tried most of it, wasted money on a lot of it, and
pays close attention. Where something needs a qualified tech, I say so.

What I care about

Being specific. “This looks lovely” helps nobody. What helps is knowing
that nude reads better one shade warmer than your skin tone, that hot
water lifting the edges is what kills a manicure, and that some things
are worth paying for once and not monthly.

Saying when something isn’t worth it. Most nail strengtheners harden the
plate and then it snaps. I’ll tell you that.

Not stealing other people’s work. Which brings me to the images.

A note on the images

Most of the designs on NailSage are digital concept
illustrations rather than photographs of real client work. I made that
choice on purpose. This niche runs on photos lifted from Instagram
without permission, and I didn’t want to build on that. Creating my own
imagery means I can show one design across six colours and three lengths
without using another artist’s photography.

I’d rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise. Where
I use a real photograph, it’s mine or it’s properly licensed.
